I remember when I used to learn yoga the foremost thing our yoga guru told us about was that in Yoga and Ayurveda literature, the Sattvic diet is said to restore and maintain a sattvic or sentient state of living. Satvik aahara, meaning they are pure and convert easily to Ojas(The essence of nutrition which is necessary for vital strength). So being a non-vegetarian and when it’s navratra time you are left with no other option but to try your hand on the Sattvik aahar and after hearing so much about the place, I decided to give Sattvik a try. It’s unusual how at this time so many people come out to try this special authentic Indian food. And thanks to Sattvik for changing my conception about how the vegetarian food can be delicious and mouth watering at the same time. This restaurant very much lives up to its name.

The moment you are here you will be welcomed in by a very courteous staff and a cosy ambience that will add up to the wonderful dining experience for you and your family. I love the way these guys have done the interiors of the place, they have kept it very simple yet unique at the same time. The shades of beige and brown add up to the overall feel of the place.

We started the evening with:

Tarts filled with Avocado and Aloo chaat: The tarts were crunchy and the filling of tawa chatt just gelled perfectly with it. The topping of avocado gave this a creamy and fleshy taste. Must try if you are one of those who loves trying their hands at something new.

Badam and Tulsi ka shorba: Almonds are special because the effect they have on our palate is unusual. While their richness is intoxicating, their mildly nutty flavour is very soothing at the same time. The soup was well done and the addition of tulsi just made it extremely aromatic.

Tamatar and Pudinae ka shorba: This is not for me and I am sure you will agree with me if you try it. The tomatoes were just given a boil and served with a little topping of mint leaves. Skip this for sure.

Paneer basil tikka: This home-made cottage cheese was infused with sweet basil and garlic and then grilled on simmering ambers. This dish is the favourite amongst the vegetarians and you usually would see this on each table here at Sattvik. The paneer tikka served to us was creamy, light and very soft.

Makhmali Kofta with Zaffrani gravy: If there is something on the menu you shouldn’t miss than this is it. The kofta’s are super soft and the richness of Spanish saffron infused gravy just made me crave for more.

Paneer-e-Moksha: The chef deserves a 10/10 for this one. I in the recent past haven’t tasted a better gravy than they serve here. This was homemade cheese grilled and tossed in a special gravy. Simply delicious.

Dal-e-Saatvik: Having this I felt I was having my maa ke haath ki dal. The arhar dal with smoked pan leaves gave this the traditional taste one vouches for.

Dum ki bani dal: Makhani dal as we like to call it. Black lentils cooked with aromatic herbs and spices and simmered over embers of charcoal for a long time. I have had better Makhani dal than this. I guess the dal wasn’t cooked too well and lacked certain flavouring too.

Kesaria Phirni: Phirni, a delicious Punjabi style milk and rice based creamy dessert, has a thick creamy texture and the one served here is something which is surely pulling me back to them. Just the right amount of sugar, the crunchiness of nuts and the topping of chandi ka wark made this a treat one cannot miss.

An integral part of any restaurant is its customer service. It doesn’t matter how fabulous your restaurant décor is or how delicious your food is, if the service doesn’t meet or exceed customers’ expectations, there is a good chance they won’t come back. And the staff here gives you all the reasons to come back. the staff is very friendly and courteous. The service is a top notch too. Take my word if you are a vegetarian and if you haven’t yet been to Sattvik than you should try them now.

Happy eating 🙂
